Our journey began on January 3, 1946, with the founding of Wallahagoda Central College. Starting with just four teachers and 55 students, our humble beginnings took place within the serene surroundings of the Niyangampaya Raja Maha Viharaya Buddhist temple. In 1951, a significant milestone was achieved when Prime Minister D. S. Senanayake laid the foundation for our new building. By 1954, the new premises were officially opened, and the college was renamed Gampola Central College.
